Consumer Report

Please help! Gatorland toyota’s saturday manager stole/exploited $5000 from a single female with sales deception that lasted 3 hours of psychological and emotional abuse which has resulted in financial hardship (with his salesman jason marshall) on january 28th…
on january 28th i came to the gatorland toyota dealership at approx. 3:00 pm.
A man was standing outside the door by the name of Jason Marshall.
I told him as he escorted me to his desk that I saw a great Prius on line for $16,000, 00.
I wanted to trade my Saturn vehicle which was a L300 Sedan with approximately 92,000 miles on it.
Mr. Marshall asked how much it was worth. I told him around $5500.00. He said he would check with the manager to verify the price.
He came back to me and said they would only trade it for $3000.00, almost only ½ of what it’s worth. I couldn’t believe they were offering me so little for it which was the first shock I received.
I asked to see it on the Blue Book site where it showed the trade-in price which was actually worth $3500.00 because my vehicle was in good condition, far from poor because the oil was just changed and a new air flow filter was installed week before at Jiffy Lube on Ladies Day & I had recently put in a new battery in just 2 months before and new tires as well.
Mr. Marshall said ORIGINALLY that the car I requested on-line was “in the shop for repairing scratch marks on the body”, so I settled to see what they had on the lot that day. Jason said he would find something for me.
The vehicle he picked had 40,533 miles on it. He said it had only 1000 more than the car I wanted, but instead of it being a 2010 as I originally asked, it was a 2008.
So now I was settling for a vehicle 2 years older and 1000 miles more.
The 2008 vehicle DID NOT HAVE ANY SALES STICKER PRICE OR INFORMATION ON IT, ONLY AN AD READING, “ONLY $139 MONTHLY PAYMENT”

Which is breaking the Malory Law with failure to disclose or display a detailed sles sticker.

He was then willing to sell this car to me for $10,000 because I had cash to offer on the spot.
When he said he just had to put together the paperwork, I was very happy.
After speaking wit the manager, came back and said, “I’d sell you the car, but we have a problem.in order for us to cover our costs for this vehicle, you will have to pay another $5,682.00! ”
I was shocked & stunned. I couldn’t believe it! I thought we sealed the deal. He was going to write up the paperwork for $10,000, cash out the door, just yo come back after speaking with his manager tpo tell me that!!!
I complained saying, I won’t pay that for several reasons:
1.) I already am willing to trade my car for only $3000 when its worth $3500 by blue book standards
2.) You originally promised to sell it to me for $10,000 out the door because
3.) I’m paying cash down and shouldn’t have to pay another $5682.00 dollars!

He insisted there was nothing they could do and continued to say…
“OK. I’ll cut you a deal. Well, you can pay monthly payments for 140-158 a month.”
I asked what??? Aren’t you going to explain to me the interest rate? My credit score is above 850.
AGAIN, he WOULD NOT explain any interest rates or why another $5682.00 was added that he scribbled on a scrap piece of paper (again, breaking the FAILURE TO DISCLOSE ACT).
He then made me wait another 15 minutes and came back and said, “OK Carol, we can give u the car for no less than $15000.00 cash.” But then I said in shock: “ON TOP OF MY TRADE IN PLUS PAYING IN CASH? ”

“That’s all we can do Ma’am. I’m sorry! ” Jason replied. So feeling I had no other choices left, I agreed.
1.) with NO DISCLOSURE about ANY doc fee costs which is usually no more than $250 and is PURELY FOR DEALERSHIP PROFITS, but his manager charged me $800!
2.) The electronic registration fee (which I called the State to verify that it actually costs $56.65, but was charged by the manager $60.00,
3.) or title fees, that actually costs $78.25 as I was informed by the State, but was charged $86.10
In summery, I should have only paid $10,000 in cash with my trade-in, but ended up paying $15,000, three hours later after emotional suffering and psychological mind games by the manager telling the salesman what to tell me in order to steal an additional $5000.00 from me all but to disclose that THEY COULDN’T “AFFORD” TO SELL IT TO ME FOR ONLY $10,000.00 WITH NO OTHER EXPLANATION (which was DECEPTIVE AND UNFAIR TRADE PRACTICES–WITH FAILURE TO DISCLOSE SALES STICKER AND EXPLANATION OF EXTRA FEES TO THE CONSUMER-ME)
Continued on pg. 2
FAILURE TO DISCLOSE THAT THERE WAS NO CRUISE CONTROL IN THE VEHICLE

As I drove away disappointed that I got charged an extra $5000.00, I drove down to my father’s in Melbourne to visit him going into dialysis for the very first time.

When I test drove the vehicle with Jason, we did not go down the highway.
This was the first time. I then was looking for the cruise control but couldn’t find it.
When I arrived to see my brother-in-law, he couldn’t find it either.
The following weekend, I went to speak to the manager in person and said
“Look. You charged me $5000.00 more for this vehicle than I was originally offered to pay & now there’s no cruise control”
The manager said, “Speak with Jason again.” Which I retold the story to Jason.
He THEN DISCLOSED that it didn’t come with it, and admitted that he neglected to tell me that at point of sale.
He then spoke with the manager again.
He then said that I’d have to pay AN ADDITIONAL $600. I said practically in tears with chest pains (I have extremely high blood pressure), “Your manager must think I’m a dumb blonde, but I’ve been jerked around enough by your manager playing you as a puppet! I want to return this vehicle and get ALL my money back and drive my original car home! ”
Jason answered “We can’t do that. You already signed the contracts. And you can’t buy back your other car either, because we already sent it to auction.”
Furious, I said I’d contact an attorney, tell everyone I know that they rip off their customers and do not inform them of all the hidden fees, costs and scams.
When I threatened that, he went back to the manager again, came back and said they would do it for free.
The next day I called to remind them that I’d need a rental when they install the cruise control, then had the audacity to charge me for a rental!
I then swore they wouldn’t get another penny from me so I called AAA who said that after not telling me about the cruise control issue, charging me for a remtal was awful and that I should contact an attorney.
I had the inconvenience of having to get a rental and drop it off today 2-6-12 AND had to pay and ADDITIONAL $15.00 in gas to make sure I put back the gas in that I used!

I have been an abused customer simply because the manager viewed me as a target—a single female ready to be victimized, emotionally abused, inconvenienced from my job and robbed of $5000.00 cash

I hope gatorland toyota will not continue to victimize single women and other good-natured customers due to their deceptive sales practices dictated to the salesmen by the manager.

I want everyone…the news, the papers & the attorneys to know that the gatorland toyota manger broke several consumer protection laws & i plan to get compensated for the pain, suffering, wages lost & humiliation i suffered at the manipulation by gatorland toyota’s saturday manager & jason marshall.

Now i am stuck with being ripped off $5000 which they will not refund, nor will they take the car back for a full refund…heck! Walmart is more ethical! Their policy is 30 days, for complete satisfaction or your money back. Gatorland toyota is “rip you off as much as possible with no satisfaction, just humiliation, decption and no negotiations after sale, just more charges! ”
