I recently made the mistake of purchasing a new ford SUV at Marshall Mize Ford. The salesman, Butch Hinshaw and the finance manager initially told me my interest rate from Ford Credit would be 8.9%. I had bought a new Saturn Vue from Saturn of Chattanooga a few months earlier, and gotten 0% financing. Only after insisting that I knew I qualified for a lower rate at Marshall mize, Butch finally admitted that I qualified for a loan rate of 2.9%.
I was so worn out from haggling over the interest rate that I unwisely agreed to a bad deal where I was given only $1,000 off the sticker price, and a low value for my trade in. Another Ford dealer in the area confirmed that I was ripped-off by Marshall Mize by at least $2,500 on the sticker price and $1,000 on the trade in.
One week after purchasing the vehicle I hand delivered a letter to the general manager. I have received no response from him, or from Ford for my very negative responses on their customer survey. We, in turn, have steered many potential buyers to other dealerships, after warning them about Marshall Mize. Beware of these and other deceptive sales tactics at this dealer!!
