Complaint / Review
National Moving and Storage Company, Tarzana, CA
Consumer Report

Company said they would charge us a flat rate for household items, and based on pounds, up to 2,000 pounds. On arriving at the house on moving day, the moving supervisor "Ben" says that we're being charged by cubit foot! We had to leave a lot of our belongings behind because we weren't prepared to pay a couple thousand extra dollars. We had already paid a $300 deposit. (Hindsight tells us we should've said "no go" when they arrived.)

We measured the cubit feet allotted to pack our stuff, and took photos of our items before and after off-loading from the semi-truck. We were overcharged a few hundred dollars, due to the company's inaccurate cubit foot accounting which was "estimated" when our stuff was first picked up.

We were also charged $200 per piece that had to be "crated", which we were told about. However, the company's "crate" was nothing more than thin, flimsy plastic wrap, cut up pieces of cardboard, and a thin blanket. Our supposedly carefully "crated" items were all damaged. One very valuable item has had to go to the shop. We were charged for something that wasn't done, period.

The "professional" mover and his one helper (who couldn't speak a word of English) did a shoddy and highly unprofessional, packing of our household goods, many of which were family heirlooms. The one good thing that happened is that our really valuable things that were left behind were safely stored in a friend's locked garage!!!

Note to all unsuspecting, and potential clients:
-Movers like this talk over you,
talking so fast about how professional they are and
they "do these kind of jobs all the time".
-Don't like you watching them pack your stuff.
-Write illegibly so that you can't possibly match your
receiving list (a carbon copy), to their list.
-And they loosely pack things and sandwich them between
boxes or alongside the truck walls rather than bubble wrap them.
We also had smaller items broken. Shoddy, shoddy, crappy work!

The contract said that we would receive "door to door service", "without a scratch"—DIDN'T happen. Driver (one person delivered)
couldn't handle any of the complaint since he's a "3rd party", and the moving company wanted the balance owed in cash. (We wanted to use a check.) Now we know why&once this company gets their cash, you're history. Customer service?! The worst we have ever had from any company, any where, and yes, I have lived in Los Angeles before!

Businesses like this aren't businesses. They are crooked.
