We had a 2002 Toyota Highlander. Our son was planning a cross country trip. We decided to replace the engine as ours was failing and would be cheaper then new car which he could use for his trip. We brought to Doug Miller (who we had used before). First complaint is we never got a written estimate on any work. When we brought the car for new engine, our initial verbal estimate was $4500. Doug did talk to my husband a few times and indicated the price would be slightly higher. When my husband picked up the car, the bill was over $7500. Dan wrote a check hoping he could cover it as he is also self employed. The check was not covered and we did settle up with him. When the car was returned the winshield was cracked-another $200. Prior to leaving on his trip the car was oiled and checked at Jiffy Lube-early Nov. When my son was on his trip engine "exploded" and the car needed to be towed. The mechanic in Nebraska has agreed with us that the engine should not have blown.
