Husband took car to Jiffy Lube for oil change and within 2 miles after leaving, the engine seized. Called JL, technician came out with oil and poured over 3 qts of oil in; capacity is 3.5. Engine would not turn over. Tech called the shop owner who came out and said JL would stand behind their work, sent my husband back to JL and said he was having the car towed.
Husband thought JL meant to have car towed back to Jiffy Lube, but instead it was taken to a shop of their choosing. After MANY repeated phone calls during which JL staff said they didn't know where my car was, one of the service techs gave me the cellphone number of the owner. When I reached him (after 6:30 at night), he said no one had forwarded any of my messages.
Next day the Jiffy Lube owner, a man known as Tony, called and said my car was fine, that it had needed a battery charge. I picked it up and within 20 miles, the engine started to knock badly. I made it home and had it towed to the dealer where they said there was severe engine damage due to oil starvation.
Jiffy Lube denied all responsibility, accused me of pulling a scam, said I must have done "something" to make it look like Jiffy Lube's fault so I could get a new engine. I'm 65 yrs old, husband is 64. Jiffy Lube owner said it was really fishy that I would pass several other lube shops to target JL, even though I was on record as using JL several times in the last year when I lived in another city.
Jiffy Lube International was absolutely no help at all.
