My car was towed by this company on June 21st by police request b/c it died on the way to the airport and my roadside assistance refused to get it. When I called them on the 21st of June they told me I would be billed b/c I wanted to pay over the phone in order for a friend to pick it up. He picked it up on June 24th and they charged him $375.15 (towing 125, mileage 30, postage 37.25, extra person 45, gate fee 50, fuel 27.90) First I don't think I should be charged for postage. I was told during one of my many phone calls to them that they only send out certified letters after they have the car a couple of weeks. Mine were dated the 21st which is the day they got my car. When I got home I called Ketterle & Son about the letters which I found in my mailbox and I did not sign for them. They told me it was my charges and from what I could understand I paid them $185 through my bank on online bill pay. Then I learned that my friend had already paid the bill in full. I have tried for four months to get this resolved by making phone calls, faxed a letter twice. I was told about a month ago that I would receive a refund for the $185.00. I called a week later in October and the gentleman told me he sent it the next day to the home company and it would take about a week. I waited another week and a half and then called and talked to another gentleman. He was rude to me, basically called me a liar that I did not pay him this money. He told me he would have his bank look into and it has been almost two weeks since that phone call. I have receipts, my phone records, bank statement, and copy of the faxes received. I want my money back. You can not tell me that you do not notice your accounts are not matching up. I also do not think I should of been charged for the postage and would like an honest explanation of the $40.00 extra person charge. Short of Small Claims Court I do not know what else to do. Anything you could do to assist me in this manner would be greatly appreciated.
Sincerely,
Vickielynn C Pringle
