Tire Installation at it's Worse

Several years ago Monro took over and has been contracted by BJ's Wholesale Club to install their tires as BJ's got rid of their in house department. I have been a member of BJ's for more than 12 years and have had 4 sets of tires purchased and installed there. BJ's WAS the best value in tires. They were responsible and did a professional job... Unfortunately this is no longer the case with Monro doing the installations. They are the absolute Worse. I can only speak to the Springfield, Pa. Store as I just experienced this when having a new set of Michelin tires installed on my vehicle. The first Red flag was when I pulled into the service bay and the tech asked me to open my hood??? For what I asked, I am just getting tires installed. He said that he neded information from there??? What I asked, he said that he neded the vin number to which I replied that it is at the bottom of the windsheild or on my registration. He said well I need some other information and it was then I told him "no one gets under my hood and to forget about it". (I should have really told them to forget about it and left taking my tires to a professional installer). There was one vehicle in front of me (just having tires installed) and it took them 3 hours to complete that job and then mine. 3 hours for them to do 8 tires, and the vehicle ahead of me already had the wheels pulled. One of the worse things I observed was the tech talking on his cell phone while mounting the tires on there rims and using the tire machine, and then not balancing them correctly using two and three weights on one wheel just a few inches apart on an alloy rim because??? When I asked the Manager why this had been done he told me he didn't know and that I should ask the tech who did the job who had disappered somewhere. Isn't it his job to know what his tech is doing and to oversee the job or to find out??? He then went on to say that maybe they didn't have the correct weights and he had to do it this way...? Not correct and not professional. The tech was also his buddy the whole time that the job was being done and their conversation for the three hours I was there centered around do side jobs and their private life about things I will not repeat here. They didn't use the star pattern when tightening the lug nuts and just kept impact hammering them to death. No torque procedure whatsoever. The tires where also underfilled by 12 lbs in every tire and they obviously aren't up to date on the new tire inflation requirements or tire construction. The place was filthy with crap and debris all over the place, on the ground outside, around the service bays and in the lot. It is no wonder that I didn't get a flat when leaving. Then the manager was scolding me for backing my vehicle out of the service bay saying it wasn't company policy, well my policy isn't to allow someone as dirty and greasy as he was to operate my vehicle and I couldn't get out of there fast enough. I wonder if it is company policy to be talking on your cell phone while using a tire machine to mount a tire? I have since taken my vehicle to a reputable professional tire installer and had then pull every wheel and check them. They had to rebalance two of the four. I should have taken the tires there in the first place but didn't listen to my gut and better judgement. Bottom line, you can buy your tires at BJ's, if you want a Michelin product, ie; Michelin, BF Goodrich or Uniroyal tire, they are a good buy if you have a coupon but take them to someone else for the installation. But then again, why go through the hassle. You can probably get just as good a deal at your reputable dealer.
