The Hardees is in Pawleys Island S.C. Is beside a Mcdonals that has the quickest drive through service i have ever been in. Over the past 5 or 10 years or when ever Hardees made the switch to just mostly burgers, (very good beef i must say) has lost a lot of business, in this area atleast, if you judge it on lunch traffic. You would think they or the owner would try and improve service or something to try and compete!
Everyday at lunch, 10 to 15 cars in line at mcdonalds, and at the same time 1 or 2 or none right next door at Hardees. WHY? For me it's the service. I can get in line at Mcdonalds, and be gone and eating, while on my way to my appointment. (being 7th or 8th in line) Or i can be 2nd in line at Hardees and still be waiting. I know Mcdonalds has a better set up with 2 speakers, and the food is not as complicated, but come on, really. Why should it take so long to mess up a mushroom and swiss, and a large ice tea.
Every other 6 months or so i think that i just don't want Mcdonalds today, and almost every time i am left wondering why i do this again. 10/17 approx. 11:50 to 12:00 (lunch Time) long line at Mcdonalds no one at Hardees, Order was a Mushroom and swiss, Awsome burger! Couldn't wait. Not too long a wait this time 3 or 4 minutes, and i'm on the road, through the light, and i have 15 minutes to eat my Burger before my appointment. After my first bite i knew it wasn't what i had my heart set on. After looking at the sandwich, it appeared to be some kind of bun i wasn't familar with, it was brown, with specks in it, inside were the mushrooms, and this meat which i cannot identify. It look like chicken in color, and seemed char-broiled, but looked to be more of a soy burger in taste and consistancy. It was not good. To be fair i was expecting a 1/3 lb thickburger, and got a white meat thingy. What really got me was, not only did i not have enough time to go back, and i wasn't able to eat lunch that day, and there was no receipt in the bag. Well being that it was biodegradeable, i felt that the ants and the roadside birds could handle it, so out the window it went.
What is really frustrating as a customer is Hardees has a fairly good product, and where i live a very good location, but over the last 10 years or so, they have not been able to get a handle on the service end of things. The competition seems to have managed quite well, with what i think of as an inferior Burger, if thats what your looking for, and whoever is in charge doesn't care. How many years does it take to get it right? Im out 3 bucks and lunch, and how many people go back and argue over a sandwich the next day. Last time i waited 15 minutes for my food, and the time before that, the same thing, if not for the service i beleive the long lunch lines would come back. It was a 6 month lay off this time, next time i guess i will have to dine in, yea right that will happen. Thanks.
