Crestleigh Apartments — Realty Management Services, Inc. Is a ripoff, rent is constantly going up every year. I first moved in June 1999 paying rent of $875. Since that time my rent has gone up every year of $60.
I am now paying $1090 for a 2 bedroom apartment, where the wallpaper is peeling, the tile in the kitchen floor is buckling and bugs are crawling up the walls in my bedroom. We are constantly having water problems, not getting any notice from the rental office when water is being turned off. Electricity has gone out several times since I have been there, with no notification as to when the lights will be coming back on. But the rental office always seems to have lights when the rest of the complex is dark. I have complained to the rental office about this because when the lights go out the hallways are dark and you can't see how to open your front door because there are no outdoor lights leading into the hallway. I mentioned this to the rental office stating that it is not safe because someone could be lurking in the hallways to attack me or one of my neighbors.
The cabinets in the kitchen are falling apart and everytime I call and ask for someone to come and repair them, in the next month or so the cabinets are again falling apart. They renovate the apartment after a tenant moves out, but the tenants who have been living here for years are still staying in the same raggedly apartments and if you ask for them renovate your apartment, you will be charged more money to move into a newly renovated apartment. A 3-bedroom apartment is going for $1500, and a two-bedroom is going for $1300. My apartment is not newly renovated and has not been renovated since I have moved in.
Once you put in your notice to move, the property manager calls you and wants to know why you are moving. I believe she is trying to negotiate a lower rent with the tenants so that they will stay longer, but why should they if the service is lousy and she never calls to ask how your stay has been since you moved in. I would not recommend anyone move into these apartments because you will be very dissatisfied. I am moving soon and can't wait to move out. If you are trying to buy a house, this is not the place because with the amount of rent you are paying you can't possibly save for a downpayment.
