Received letter in mail that we won sweepstakes with check for 3,950.00 part of winnings. Called the bank on the check KeyBank National Association 1-614-460-3415 and told that the routing number was good. Told to call 1-905-598-6360 and speak to Ray Owen. Went to bank, deposited check, bank said check was good and released funds. Ray Owen said we needed to go to Western Union wire funds of 1965.00 to Janice Erickson in London and call him when done. Next day we were told by Ray Owen to send by Western Union 1184.00 to Lisa Fox in London and to call him when done. Then he said the remainder of the funds would be released and sent to us by registered mail and he would call to let us know. Received call 8/25 that customs had the check and we needed to send 800.00 to Lisa Fox again and she would handle customs and get the check release to us. At this point I called Ray Owen as our bank called and said the check for 3,950.00 was no good and had been returned to our bank. Now the bank is making us pay the amount of 3,950.00 back in a loan. These funds were okyed for release by our bank and would not have been touched if the bank had not said ok. I have all the paperwork, deposit slips, withdrawel and western union slips, to prove the transactions. My husband and myself are senior citizens and work had for our money. We feel that the bank that released the funds should be accountable for that fact, as anyone knows that it takes 3 to 7 days for an out of state check to clear.
