I am a part time Mystery Shopper and I received a letter from Value Shoppers Inc.in the mail stating that I have been chosen to be the Independent Contractor for Value Shoppers Inc.in my area (Bradenton, Fl. 34207) along with the letter a contract came with a check for $3475.00 in my name. I called the phone number in the letter and spoke with "Micheal" he told me the check was the funds I am to use for my assignments. The letter had a contract that I signed and faxed to "Micheal" I was told to deposit the check and when it clears to withdraw the funds and conduct my assignments. I went to 4 different big department stores and made 2 western Union transactions 1 for 1,300.00 to Mark Webb in Manchester, UK and 1 for 1375.00 to Linda Williams in Madrid, Spain. I was told I was to evaluate the Western Union Clerk, that should have alarmed me, but at the time it was not my money I was sending (or so I thought) so what was the harm? Well on 8/2 Value Shoppers Inc. Canceled the check and now I am $3475.00 in the rear with my bank, money I do not have, as well as my monthly bill & rent money that was in the bank waiting to clear, is All gone now. I figured sense the check cleared and I was allowed to withdraw the funds the check was ok, but I was wrong. What is the reason your bank puts a hold on any check? Isn't it to be sure the funds are available? And once a check is cleared and the money has been withdrawn how can it then be canceled? Please explain. What can I do to get my money back from these thieves and to expose them so they can not take advantage of any more people. I am also going to report them to the police? I am not sure of his real name, but he had me call him Micheal, however I sent money to Mark Webb. So who knows?
