Detailed Description of Complaint
Mr. Gregory Martin Thompson came to my house on August 22 at 3:30 pm and we talk about his company, The Painting Pros, to repair exterior stucco and paint the house, fence, shed and gate. He gave me an estimate for the complete job in the amount of $2,800.00. I liked the price and I hired him because he told me that he can start the next day and the people who were going to perform the job were experts, professionals and licensed contractors. I was satisfied with the price and advertised quality of the professionals who would be performing the job, so I gave him half down of $1,400.00 cash to start the job the next day. I was promised the job was going to get done in three to four days and he would do a great job. He said the workers would arrive between 7 to 8am the next day.
The next day, on August 23rd, the two workers arrived and asked for instructions for the job to be performed. They said Mr. Thompson only told them to show up at my house but otherwise they were given no other instructions about the job they were to perform. I provided them with a copy of the job description Mr. Thompson wrote up along with the list of items I had provided to Mr. Thompson the day before. They asked me for the paint samples but I did not have it because I had given it to Mr. Thompson the day before.
The workers, Mr. And Mrs. Hector Garcia, were a bit confused by the job description I provided because they said they were only told to go to my address to paint the exterior of the home. After 30 minutes of examining the house and the job description, they said Mr. Thompson did not describe thing properly to them and they were going to talk to him. They packed up their supplies and left and I never saw them again.
I've contacted Mr. Thompson by phone and he agreed to return my down payment; but, as of August 25th he has yet to show up with my money and now refuses to answer his phone. I would like very much if you can help me in recovering my down payment of $1,400 since it is apparent he has abandoned the job.
