Had a business account, A basic business package with on-line banking. Cost was $2.50 per month to maintain the account. Had a minimal amount in the account about $10.00 to keep the account open for another month or two.
Wells Fargo then charges me $25.00 for 'Rewards for business check card' and since there was insufficient funds, they closed the account and reported me to collections.
I have documentation that I removed that service and it is noted in my final statement. I went to the bank and they state that they no longer have my records - just three months later. They insist that I must have made a verbal agreement for the rewards card service. How can they say that when I have proof that I do not have that?
The bank told me to call the main telephone line, which I did and they stated they no longer have records. To date I have spoke to six individuals and a bank manager all to only be bumped to another person.
After weeks I find I have been reported to collections and with no records I owe money to Wells Fargo where I am stating they illegally stole my money, closed my account without an official notice and then destoyed my account records, and then to add insult - reported me to collections.
Is this bank insane or what? I am wondering how many other individuals and accounts they have pulled this scam on.
At this point I can only drop the issue as for $10.00 it is not practical to pursue. I only wanted to get my story out so someone knows how underhanded Wells Fargo bank can be.
