I had an new starter installed in my truck by Sears Auto Service Department in Lake Grove, New York on 4/22 whom I have done business with for over 30 years with at first 2 family vehicles and prior to this problem 4 family vehicles. On June 19 I stopped at the local Hess gas station and was not able to turn truck off as in the off position the starter started cranking until the fourth attempt the the truck stopped running altogether. Subsequently on the truck being towed to the local repair station and repaired, I found out the solenoid on the new starter had shorted out and back fed into the secondary solenoid causing it to short out also. The town mechanic wrote up what had happened so I could show it to the Sears manager. On return to Sears I explained what happened brought in the bad starter and asked if he could at least return the bad unit to his local supplier and give me a cash return for the bad unit or store credit for the bad unit. A reasonable request considering the trouble I went through and the 30 plus years of business my family brought to Sears Auto as well as the adjacent Sears Department Store with major home appliance purchases, etc, etc. I await your reply, as well as my family and my friends in our community.
