The policy for greyhound is that they are not liable for any delay or inconvenience due to cancellations or otherwise. Below are a few examples of their customer non-friendly policies:
Greyhound "does not guarantee its departure and arrival times. Greyhound is not liable for any inconvenience or expense caused as a result of such a delay."
"Greyhound is not liable for the expense of connecting bus service missed as a result of a delay."
"Greyhound is not liable for any other travel expense caused as a result of a delay."
I booked a bus and my route was not listed on their phone message of delays and cancellations. The bus never showed up and each time I called customer service someone insisted the bus 'was on its way'. After 2 hours I decided it wasn't coming, and I had missed my connecting train in Chicago anyway. I called and they refused to issue either a refund OR an exchange.
Megabus is much more accurate with which routes are cancelled or delayed and they offer a full refund or free exchange in such cases.in addition, their customer service representatives are infinitely more helpful and polite than greyhound service representatives. Hands down, go with Megabus.
