After applying for a Capital One credit card, I received it in the mail and in October called to activate it. The activation process was interrupted by a customer service person who enticed me to make a balance transfer by offering me 0% interest rate until March with no fees. Sounds like a good deal? I proceeded to give her an account number from which to transfer from. Upon receiving my second bill, I noticed I was being charged 8.9%! I immediately called Capital One and spoke with a customer representative who told me that the only time they were giving that 0% offer was upon application. Huh? THEN WHY was it offered to me upon activation? He had no answer, other than it must have been in error (how convenient for them). I was shocked at this answer. Like this company does not know what they are offering people when they activate their cards? Yeah, right. As I argued with him, he put me on hold several times, but every time he returned, it was the same story. Sorry about this, but there's nothing we can do about it. I told him I would have NEVER transferred a balance to a card at 8.9%. (Oh, too bad for me). At the end of the conversation, he said he would file some kind of report and see what could be done. This is fraud! I get credit card offers all the time for 0% and I have never had them try to scam me like this. I asked the representative for their fax number, and tried to fax a letter, but it wouldn't work, so now I'm mailing it. So, I'm waiting to see what happens. This is the worst credit card company I have ever dealt with. Do not believe anything they say. They are scammers.
