J D Byrider - CNAC Also Dba Automax LLC
Ripoff, misrepresented work, lied

In march, I purchased a car from JD Byrider of Appleton (also doing business as Automax LLC) and CNAC financed me. I didn't have enough "established history" for the bank... But this company offered me reliable, dependable, safe transportation while reporting to the credit bureau every payment so that I would be establishing a history. I have had this car, a 98 Plymouth Breeze, for 10 months.

In that time, I have had the lower half of the engine replaced (within two weeks of taking the car home and before I even made my first payment), I have had a new rear main seal put in the car, I have had to have all the motor and transmission mounts replaced, I have had the front axle replaced and they replaced two tires... At this time, my car is sitting in front of my house with the front main seal in the transmission shot... in other words, I have a car that can't be driven because the transmission is junk.

I have made several attempts at assisting JD Byrider fix this piece of junk they sold me as a reliable, safe, and dependable car. I have never missed a payment, I have never been late. And, get this, they have worked on this car and made huge mechanical repairs every time I have taken it in (driving more than 200 miles and renting another car at my expense every time)!!! When I realized I was loosing transmission fluid, I had the car put on a lift and looked at by someone I trust... And i was told to get rid of this car as fast as possible. The repair work, and of course since it's an in-house warranty JD Byrider technicians can only do the work, has been of such poor quality that everything their technicians have done is going to need to be redone again!!!

When the front axle was put in they couldn't get it to fix so they pounded it into place... Gouging a plate and mushrooming bolts!!! I want to know where these technicians went to school to think that is reliable work? Then, the 8th or 9th time the car went into the shop, the manager of sales, Steve something or other, told me I was being paranoid about the car and I should just grow up and deal with it. I told him in not so nice terms what I thought of his opinion and since he had no mechanical aptitude and only pushed paperwork around a desk that he should probably keep his opinions to himself.

I have finally had enough. I filed a complaint with the Department of Transportation, dealer investigation unit for wisconsin. I am not sure if other states have this. It is going rather slowly, but since I have been through so much already, it seems to be worth the wait. My next and final step is to hire a lawyer. I am tired of being taken advantage of, of being lied to about what they do with the car and what they don't, I am tired of paying for something that was not what I should have—especially since I was guaranteed safety, dependability and reliability and have none of it.

My shock is that this franchise is allowe to continue doing business in how many different states when all it seems to be doing is ripping people off. Where do we, the consumer, have the right to expect someone to be truthful? And to deliver what they promised?
