Complaint / Review
Robert Brewster of Black Sun Construction, Inc
Efuses to pay his bills

To All Interested In Conducting Business with Robert Edgar Brewster, Jr. And / or Black Sun Construction, Inc. For Any Purpose:

I used to work for Robert, who is now the President/Owner/Operator of Black Sun Construction, Inc. I regret it very much and I will tell you the numerous reasons why. Please understand that the following information is in no way exaggerated. I consider myself level-headed and fair. These complaints are completely accurate. While reading this you should understand that his company is based inside his home.

First of all, be aware that this company is NOT new. It only has a new name. Same President / Owner / Operator. It was once called ‘Brewster Roofing’ or ‘Brewster Construction’. There was one other company run by Robert; however, that company name totally escapes me at the moment.

I, myself, was paid with bad checks or not paid for very long periods of time, weeks. Regarding one particular incident a very large grocery/goods chain refused to cash my paycheck because it was written by him. Towards the end of my employment, the office was getting calls daily from material providing companies, collection agencies, grocery stores, and finer department stores seeking their money on bad checks that had been written to them. While I was employed there, a representative from the workman’s compensation insurance agency called the office and demanded that their title be removed immediately from the Black Sun Construction, Inc. Website since payments were not being made as set forth in the contract. Soon after that I got calls from an agent from the Birmingham area Worthless Check Unit. Without explanation Robert released me from employment owing me almost $2,000 which I am still attempting to get.

More importantly, to you potential clients, Black Sun Construction, Inc. Received complaint calls regarding work done regularly. Clients wanted their money back - per the contract. When I started working for this company there were already many clients that had received their money back or were waiting to receive their money back. If you were to visit the Black Sun Construction, Inc. Web-site today, I can assure you that what you read there is considerably inaccurate: “We have heavily researched federal gudieline standards and follow them to the letter†(Found under “Hurricane or Storm Damage? â€) I am no roofing expert but common sense tells me that if the previous statement were true he would not have received so many complaint calls nor have had to refund clients.

One day, as I was doing my normal secretarial duties, I was editing some paperwork that was to be faxed to a company which I will refer to as ‘Company X‘. Here is the way Company X works: Robert provided Company X with a list of names, titles, social security numbers and birth dates of his employees he had listed as officials within Black Sun Construction, Inc. (i.E. President, Vice President, Treasurer, etc.) Company X conducts background checks on each of those listed officials. Understanding that, I noticed that Robert had clearly made a mistake as to his year of birth. He had written that he was born in 1945, which would put him at approximately 64 years old. Anyone who has ever seen Robert in person or on the company commercial (which can be watched at www.blacksunconstruction.com) knows that he is not anywhere near 64 years old. I pointed out this error to him. His response was: “You know… Sometimes I like that you are so observant. Sometimes you notice too much. I did jail time if you must know. Happy? †He went on to explain that it was his father’s date of birth and social security number that he had listed. He then told me to leave it as it was and ensure that I fax it, which I never did.

On the office bookshelf he keeps various books about sex. Any employee or company representative could have noticed it. Robert used the one and only work e-mail address to order adult clothing for his wife. His credit card was denied, and afterwards he began receiving e-mails from that company regarding that fact. He used the one and only work computer to visit various pornographic web-sites and then left the site up for employees to see.

Robert’s wife has been unemployed while married to Robert. Robert had fake paychecks for created for her.

Robert would sleep extensively… during business hours. One day he dropped an appointment without any notice to the representative because he was sleeping! This representative showed up from another state expecting to meet with Robert.

Below you will find a copy of the letter which I sent to him on September 15 via certified mail and restricted delivery, requiring a signature. The letter was signed for by his wife, who signed for it as the company’s registered agent.

On Wednesday, September 24, I drove by Robert’s house in Springville. It appeared to still be occupied by him because his deck furniture was still sitting on the front porch.

The last time you contacted me in any manner was on September 20 at which time you claimed to have moved out because you could no longer afford the house. I did not and do not believe that response you sent to me was truthful. Only two days later, Thursday, September 18, your wife signed for the certified letter I mailed you. Your deck furniture still sits on the deck.

It was never responded to, therefore, I emailed it again on October 6, with the following sentence added to the top hoping that Danielle would notice her name: “Danielle, Please be sure that this is received by Robert.†My second email was also ignored. I then contacted the Birmingham, AL Wage and Hour Division District Office on Wednesday, November 19; however, I decided against using their limited services. The office would not have been as helpful as I needed them to be in my particular situation.

Robert has stepped on countless people, including myself, to obtain everything he has today. What does he have? He has a large, contemporary 3 story home (with at least 5 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, a 2 car garage, and large front and back yards) located in beautiful Springville, AL. He has a cleaning service come by the house on a regular basis.

On September 5 he sent me a text message that read, “not paying u never entered my mindâ€. Funny. It sure looks that way. As of today, February 6, the last time Robert contacted me in any manner was on Saturday, September 20.

So happy to be out of that uncomfortable setting,
Me
