Bank of America (BoA) seems to have retrieved my address from Aetna where I have my HSA-eligible Health Insurance Plan. Without my consent, BoA signed me up for an HSA account. This week I received a BoA New Account Welcome Letter with a Visa Debit Card. I never had a business-relationship with BoA, I never called them, I never answered to any of their mailings, and I never walked into any of their branches. Now I became their customer against my will.
When trying to call and cancel (again, I did not sign up!), I was passed through their automated telephone system asking personal information (SSN, DoB...), I hung up as I was afraid that by providing personal information, I give consent and confirm the account. I have no idea where to go from here. I will call Aetna and ask if they can help me and will keep trying to call BoA and ask to cancel an account which I never opened.
I will vote on this with my feet. I pledge to NEVER to business with BoA. I suggest to my friends, neighbors, and co-workers to do the same. I guess I complain with Aetna and consider switching insurance providers.
