Dr. Diehl treated a puppy for Parvo 3 years ago. The owners couldn't pay and requested the dog be put down. He refused. He instead filed a suite against the owners for payment and has kept the dog caged in his clinic for the last 3 years as collateral evidence during the long drawn out court process. The suite has now been settled and the dog is no longer of any use to him so he has announced the dog (Devo) will be put down on August 1.
The staff love Devo and have done their best to help him be a happy dog. However this dog has never had the chance to be a real dog and started to have symptoms of chewing and tearing up the cement in his cage so he was neutered only a year ago after the persistent requests of the staff. He was never socialized properly with other dogs but does well with cats. He can not walk on a leash properly. He has never been taken a walk outside of the yard of the clinic on sidewalks.
