The Secret Society
Special and Rare Chosen One

This is July. I began receiving letters from The Secret Society in April of this year. The first letter I received from The Secret Society reeked of Kevin Trudeau. It followed a book order I returned for refund. I sent for the free booklet. It was accompanied by an order form to get a 1200 page manuscript from ancient Greece for about $140.included was a second letter praising my specialness. I did not send for the manuscript. The booklet contained five stories about people who didn't spend a penny for their manuscripts. Theirs were free, either found by coincidence or given to them. Well, why did I have to pay for my copy? If they had become instantly rich and irresistable, couldn't they afford to spot a fellow Chosen One? I mean, we are so rare. How can they afford to let a fellow exceptional Chosen One get away?

After several letters stating that I would never again hear from them if I didn't respond by certain dates, they finally ceased writing. None of them were signed except by someone using the pseudonym of John. Each one was puportedly sent from an anonymous celebrity who would be my mentor and surprise me by the illustrious crowd of Secret Society members I would be surrounded by once I reached appropriate status within the society. I was told that The Secret Society is comprised of those who run the world and all affairs governmental and otherwise. They called themselves the New Illuminati. I was also told about a ten second "miracle" that would give me instant wealth, adoration from everybody I met, true love unlimited and whatever my heart desired. Well, aren't we told about the man who was even released from prison within minutes of using that "miracle" mental technique?

My chief surprise came in learning how long this scam has been going on. I didn't lose any money because I didn't buy the whole thing financially or otherwise. I am concerned for those who don't have computers (lots of them around) or who don't know how to look any of this up on their pc's.

For those who paid for the 1200 page manuscript, what, if anything, did they get for their money? Was it a book that instantly transformed their lives as soon as they touched it? Was it a drawn - out spiel on the subject of self hypnosis and the subconscious that they could have accessed free at the library or on the computer? Did their money disappear into a black hole, lost forever?

Positive thinking is important. Too many are struggling to get by financially to have their hopes raised and so badly hammered by people with a twist that plays on others' faith in greater power.By the way, Kevin Trudeau has already been prosecuted because of his health cures book. He lost in court and may never again promote anything related to health matters. He is going to be prosecuted further for other offenses involving fraud and misrepresentation. I returned the one book I ordered because everything in it is freely available to the public without charge and the government is not concealing a single thing he claimed to be exposing.

Preying on others' hopes is evil at best. I wish there were a way to remind everybody who will receive any type of scam by mail or email of one old truth: if it seems too good to be true, it probably is. There's rare chance that it will be legitimate. There is no such thing as a "ten second miracle" that will produce immediate anything. We would have to call that magic, but we don't believe in that, now do we?
