Target.com Your a Supervisor? Seriously!

To Whom It May Concern:

I want to relay to whoever may listen, if that is possible, that I am extremely displeased with the service that I received at the Longmore and Southern location of Target today. I went in to buy a Halloween costume for my son. He got a magician costume, and after scouring the store for an additional 30 minutes to try to find a wand to go with it, we ended up in the dollar isle looking for something that would suffice for a wand. We found a chopstick that had been taken out of a pack of six. I know this because I found one package that was not opened. This was the only one that I found of it's nature, and no packages were opened missing one chopstick. I took my items up to the front where I asked the salesperson to find out if there was a way that I could purchase just the one chopstick, because I did not need all six as well as the cloth packaging that it came in. This transaction occured on 10/29/09 at 6:12 PM.

The salesperson called the supervisor named Jeff over to ask him what to do. He went and got the product that I described above, and told me I could buy the entire package. I told him that I did not want to buy the entire package, that I looked to see if there was a package open that the one chopstick was missing from, and there was none, but I did not need the entire package. I told him I would be willing to pay. 20 or. 30 cents for the single chopstick. He refused to sell me the individual chopstick. He was defiant and rude, not dealing with the problem with the slightest level of professionalism. I asked him what the store intended to do with the chopstick. He told me they would donate it. I told him I was willing to buy it. He continued to be rude and defiant. I asked to speak to a supervisor, when he informed me that he was the supervisor, and there was no one else to speak to. I told him that he was about 3 seconds from loosing a purchase as well as a customer, and he finally went and got a manager. The manager took me over to the returns desk quietly and sold me the chopstick for. 12 cents. I paid less for the chopstick than I had originally offered to pay for it at the point of sale.

I have people tell me all the time that they prefer to shop at Target because of the professionalism of the workforce. I can tell you now that if this is Target's idea of workforce training, I want nothing to do with the company, and have no desire to shop there ever again. I have never been treated so poorly even when at Wal Mart. I would have expected this level of care at Wal Mart, but not at Target.

I hope you plan on addressing this issue. I am not someone who forgets easily, and I would appreciate someone trying to explain what is wrong with management at your store, or if this was an isolated incident.

Sincerely,

An extremely displeased customer!
