I hired Sigma at first to do some prototyping work for a vacuum die application in our plant. We’d been working with the same dies for a number of years and I had planned on using the same type of material and castings as before because they seemed to work just fine. The folks at Sigma sat us down and ran through a few options, some we hadn’t really considered. They were willing to implement our original design, but they also suggested that we try a prototype of the design that they had tweaked for us.
They came back with the die that we settled on and there was never any question that the design that they worked out for us was much better. Our dies now weigh quite a bit less, and they take a fraction of the time to switch out. The amount of time that we save through the month in switching out really goes a long way in this economy.
The prototyping processes ran smooth. Like I said, they were willing to use our ideas but also had a few of their own. We eventually decided on Sigma’s model and once we saw the prototype, we were sold. None of our guys ever had to chase them down on the phone. Sigma was always calling with updates and keeping the whole thing on track. A great bunch of folks.
