I bought a 1996 Dodge Stratus in December of 1996 from Crown Dodge of Greensboro, NC, which is not a rental car facility. I had four recalls on the car within six months and a total of six within the 1st year. I took it to several car dealerships in the Summer of 1997, including back to Crown Dodge in an attempt to trade it for another vehicle and only one salesperson offered me a little less than half of it's value and he happened to be one of my relatives. He and all other car salesmen that I spoke to concerning trading in the Dodge told me it was worthless in just one years time.
I ended up spending $900 for a cracked head gasket and oil spliage which resulted new belts. After paying for the repairs there were other problems such as water leaking and the car ran hot often. I was fed up and I returned the car back to Crown Dodge and am now having to pay Chrysler Financial for a car that sat idle for four months and was in the shop for more than half the time I owned it. I found out it was a rental car before being posed as a demo when I went to a car dealership in Winston-Salem, NC and in my attempt to search for car records, found the rental agreement. When I explained why I was returning the
vehicle I was asked if I asked before buying it if it was a rental car. I did not ask that because I was not at a rental car lot. I asked if it had ever been wrecked or flooded and was told no.
Several attempts have been made by me to contact someone at Chrysler Financial and Crown Dodge of Greensboro but I have been ignored and told to pay the balance. Not only am I out of a car, and over $1600 in repair money now I have a negative credit report because I took a stand against them.
