I own a 1996 Dodge Grand Caravan with 84,000 miles. I just had a new starter put in. About two weeks prior to my starter dying and stranding me, I tried to use my air conditioning, only to have it blow warm air on a 90 degree day.
When the van went to the garage for the starter replacement, I told them about the air conditioning. They said that the evaporator probably had a hole in it. They said Daimler-Chrysler
had alot of problems with the evaporators and starters. My mechanic told me his garage had replaced 4 starters in the last week on dodge grand caravans.
I spoke with a customer service rep. At Daimler-Chrysler, Explained what the mechanic had told me, the Chrysler
rep said, " Because it's not a safety issue, there's nothing
that can be done."
I guess I foregot to mention that the transmission was replaced
as well, just after the waranty had expired.
I definately will think twice before I buy another Dodge.
