I thought that Child Support Enforcement Agencies are suppose to help the children. I guess they help whoever. This is my problem; I have reinstated child support a few years ago. I have four kids all by the same guy. Child support started out at just $75 a week to my surprise. When I contacted my worker he stated that was just the arrears because I did not have a court order for support. OK, I got a hearing for establishing support. It was determined that hte noncustodial parent pay $448 a month. That did not happen until about 2 months after the order was issued. The payments did not add up the $448 a month and then when December approached all payments stopped the second week of that month. To whoever said that the law for NC is that if payment has surpassed 30 days the noncustodial parent goes to jail is incorrect. That may be for some areas but I have not received child support of December and this March and nothing has happened. I just recently learned that a court order for noncompliance is set for the 16th of this month. Guess what the judge is not going to send him to jail or nothing. All they will tell him to do is find a job. My thing is he quite is job for no reason. What do you do when the noncustodial parent quites several jobs in order to avoid paying child support? This is not the first time either. He quite once before when he had to pay $950 a month and he told me himself the judge was crazy thats too much money but he was making $1200 a week. Thats what pisses me off. No one is forcing these parents to maintain work or file taxes to pay child support. You keep sending them to court and whatever excuse they give the court is exceptable and then the children are suffering from what they deserve. Someone needs to do something. I am sick and tired of being told well don't depend on child support or we are doing the best we can or there is nothing we can do. Why do you think a lot of noncustodial parents are owing over thousands of dollars? Right now I am owed $4900 back support. This crazy and someone should do something about it. Any ideas please respond on how make some sort of progress.
