Simply The Best magazine publishes stolen ads for profit without remorse

In March Adam Goodkin, publisher of Simply the Best magazine, received stolen advertisements directly from Howard Needle, publisher of Cravings Palm Beach magazine.

On May 5, Goodkin was alerted by email that he had published advertisements that were created by Farnsworth Associates, under contract, solely for use in Cravings. Needle never paid for the Work and the magazine folded.

Needle negotiated with Goodkin to publish the ads in Simply The Best as a way to get out of paying back Cravings advertisers for monies received towards the next issue.

Then, Goodkin published the ads for profit.

Farnsworth Associates sent Good Press Publishing an invoice for the stolen, published Work.

FA requested that Goodkin furnish copies of Insertion Orders or other documentation to prove that GPP had received proper permissions to print the ads.

Goodkin's subsequent email on May 6 stated that he received the ads from "some guy named Jorge" and would "change the ads to satisfy the matter".

Changing the ads for future issues does not satisfy the matter; the ads were published, copyrights violated.

Goodkin claimed he published the ads *free* to help the advertisers who were jilted by Cravings - this is not true. One advertiser in question had to sign an annual contract at the cost of $7,000.

No supporting documents were ever provided; instead, Goodkin offered the name and contact information for his wife lawyer who practices family law. She would accept service of process and had copies of all the documents FA requested.

Why not provide FA with copies or written clarification directly? Why incite a litigious solution to a question so easily answered: Did you receive the Work from Howard Needle?

As of May 28, Adam Goodkin has not provided remedies for the Work he published without permission nor written clarification on how he came to possess the advertisements.

Moreover, in January Goodkin offered employment to Needle, a convicted felon, as a sales consultant; Needle declined the offer at the last minute and decided to try and save Cravings magazine.

If Goodkin’s interests include associating with convicted felons like Howard Needle, I would take caution before engaging in business with him or Good Press Publishing/Simply The Best magazine.
