Bad news

Went to one of thier dinners, they brought up some points worth listening to, but it went sour in a hurry. Having worked in hi-rise residential construction for many years and working very closely with Planning Boards, electrical inspectors, and Fire Marshalls, it didn't take long to realize this man was giving out a lot of false info.
I came home and punched up "Masterguard"on the computer. The first link that came up was"Masterguard Scams", I was not surprised. I spent about an hour reading a lot of negatives, could have spent many hours doing so, but no point in continuing, the damage was done.
When the "independent contractor/salesman" came to our home the next night, I let him get into his presentation. When he started talking about how great his product is and how everything was inferior and didn't work, I then confronted him with the info I had pulled off the computer. His response was that this was not true. I asked him if he had ever looked up "masterguard" on the computer. He said that there was no reason to. When I informed him how many pages were devoted to Masterguard negatives, he informed me I had no idea in the world what I was talking about. I said that I will show you, he didn't want me to do that. After much bickering, I told him that if he would leave me a written quote on company letterhead along with his business card (I already knew he didn't have a business card) that I would compare products, pricing, with other manufacturers, check with the Fire Marshall to see if his products met applicable codes and industry standards, investigate his company futher, and get back with him. I also asked him to leave me engineering data sheets on his products, a very common request, he didn't know what those wre but I didn't need them.
He refused to give me pricing.
He didn't understand my attitude, I informed him again that it was because of the negative info I had on Masterguard. He again stated that I did not know what I was doing and Fire Marshalls weren't educated enough to do their jobs. Then I said "okay, I will now show you what the computer says". As I was punching up "Masterguard", he was making a quick exit.
Don't believe a word I have said, punch up "Masterguard"on Google, go from there. If you go to thier homepage, it will only show you what they want you to see.
Then go visit your local Fure Marshall, he will be glad to give you all the information you need on products that meet all codes, regulations, and industry standards. Home Depot, Lowes, and other hardware companies carry these products. Top of the line units are app.$20.00 each. I did a serious upgrade for $114.00 for 5 units. It took me 30 minutes to read instructions, install, and test these 5 units. They quoted my sister $4400.00 for 9 units. Three of the units I selected had 10 year lithium batteries and two units were combo ion/photo.
Some of the things you may find out;
Ionization units DO NOT have a 55% failure rate.
Ionization units have not been banned from manufacture or use in the US.
Heat sensors serve no purpose as far as life safety.
Masterguard units are not superior to other products. There is no real evidence to prove that they are equal to other products. Masterguard units are not one of a kind wonders.
