This company does not provide a contact telephone number on its web site. Ultimately, they are responsible for their products yet they provide no way for a consumer to contact them.
I was trying to find out the cost of their AC units. This information is not provided online. AC units are purchased by consumers through private contractors who purchase the units from distributors who purchase the units from Trane Inc. (that's a few middle men). So Trane does not have "consumer prices" to disclose. But they do sell their units to distributors. They will not disclose these prices either.in the automobile industry, the manufacturer sets a "manufacturer suggested retail price", the MSRP. Trane does not set an MSRP either. They say that is because their products are "in-home" products and that somehow makes it different but she wasn't able to explain how.
Numerous times during my conversation with the Trane representative, she refered to the special "relationship" that Trane has with the distributor. I now believe this relationship is in place to blind the consumer from the actual costs of their products. Now, if you want to purchase a Trane product, you have no choice but to trust your local contractor (of which there may only be a few) that he is not marking up the price beyond reason.
On a related note, the representative that I spoke with treated me with disrespect and could provide no assistance. Reading the other reports of poor customer service that cunsumers have posted, I do not think I will be purchasing a rane product. Where would I be left if I had a problem with it? Probably paying some independent contractor huge amounts of money to fix it.
