A California-based company named Net-Tel made several unauthorized charges on my account a couple of weeks after I began using the card. I have no idea how they got access to it, but it was not any fault of the two cardholders, who reside in Georgia.
I called to report the problem immediately but the representatives offered me nothing but to write the company a LETTER describing the problem and asking for correction and refund. The card can be activated and used online but I have to write a postal letter to correct a wrong that was not my fault?!
Their service agreement states that they will reload funds onto the card within ten business days but this was evidently not a real option as it was never offered to me. The representatives who answered my call did not know what to do, and I spoke to three. They told me I could call Net-Tel myself and ask them to reverse the charges - I would have to find the number or contact information myself as Walmart MoneyCard knew nothing.
I am currently waiting for this company to reimburse me, and will probably never be compensated for the week I had to spend absolutely penniless while my letter is being mailed and processed. Because the card has a Visa logo on it, I thought security, fraud protection and customer service would be givens, but I was wrong. I did register a complaint online with the national BBB, and I saw that several others had done the same, but I don't know how much good that will do. Don't let the familiar names fool you - this is not a quality product in any way.
