In 2003 a Wayne Dalton model 9100 18x7 Garage Door and iDrive was purchased at Lowes Inc. The door was installed using the manufacturers hardware. The door came with the TorqueMaster style counterbalance system.
Initially the door seemed to work fine and while only minor adjustments were needed initially. After a couple years however, the opener would need to be replaced. Of course "Tech Support" puts you through a few mundane requirements to evaluate the Wayne Dalton iDrive opener but that seemed normal. After the evaluation, tech support sent another iDrive out and it was installed using the methods required.
Again the opener performed it's duties for awhile. Then the all too familiar problems reoccurred. The Wayne Dalton iDrive manuals were downloaded from the Wayne Dalton Site that covered the installation, troubleshooting etc of the openers. Enclosed in the digital manuals an important note was found.
