I have been charged on numerous occassion excessive NSF fees from Wachovia due to them either posting larger amounts to least amount to get the most out of the NSF fees. I was just charged on 2-10-10 $420 just in fees after I check my online account faithfully to ensure all my check card purchases are showing and against my available credit. Upon them "processing" to post them the next day, they all of a sudden state the funds were not there but according to their website and my register they were covered the previous day.
They did this to me three weeks ago with a cash deposit I made that showed in my available balance the same day and they charged me almost $100 worth of fees due to stating that although I could see my deposit posted to my available credit, and I could go to the ATM and withdrawal the money, any check card purchases that came throught that night would not be covered. That seems absolutely obsurd to me and upon advising the rep that there is no way she could justify that it made any sense, all I got was "oh well".
I have been a victim of Wachovias practice too many times to count and they have received thousands of dollars, which is no exageration, over the five years I have banked with them due to this practice. I advised that every rep gives different stories and they are heartless and dont seem to care that Wachovia just got away with charging hundreds of dollars and since I get direct deposit from my job, there is no way to not have them paid the next check.
I have threatened so many times about this and just today after them taking half of my two week paycheck, that I will find every site possible to post a complaint. Wachovia justifies it by saying that I need to rely on my check register and keep better track and try to make their customers feel stupid. I work for a credit card company and know how to balance my checkbook and check their website religiously to ensure all pending transactions are covered and for them to make their customers feel like they are just stupid is just ridiculous.
To post check card purchases highest to lowest is the most crooked way for them to collect every dollar possible in fees due to posting from smallest to largest wouldnt incur as many fees for customers. Their business practices have got to stop and I have filed a formal complaint with the BBB and plan on continuing to spread my word after being a customer numerous years and tired of being treated like I am stupid and tired of them taking money from my childrens mouths to put in the VP's paycheck when I am on a single income with three kids and suffering, like many are, in this tough economy with layoffs. It is no wonder that Wells Fargo bought them out, but banks need to be stopped from charging these excessive fees from their customers. Its obsurd.
