Everyone has done a good job describing the daily activities that went on at the Ivins group. I haven't worked there in over a year, however I get contacted by other companies, which I completely get turned off by just knowing about my experience with the Ivins group.
I worked for the Ivins group for about a month. I had a gut feeling I shouldn't do it, but being a college grad. I was ready to try anything. Sometimes they say the best jobs are the ones where you take a risk. Right? Wrong or at least wrong in this case. Don't waste your time and energy. If you want to work long days and 6 days a week... Be a server at a local restaurant. You would probably make more money and are guaranteed to make something.
It is possible you could end up making nothing one day and actually lose money by having to drive 2 1/2 hours away. I did have fun one summer working with some people and made friendships.
You weren't allowed to come into work complaining and upset if you had a bad day. Everyone had to act happy and be excited for everyone else that made money. We are adults, we have bills, and also need benefits.
The final straw was having an "account manager" calling me on July 4th over and over again because she wanted to make sure that I was selling some of my Victoria Jackson make-up. They were going to make us work, but last minute decided to give us the day off. I was spending time with my family and they had all the Victoria Jackson make-up they could possibly need. A year and a half later... My family and I still are using it!
Most things they say are lies and I figured that out. Our sales pitch talked about how Victoria Jackson was selling this make-up for cheap, because she wanted to see how well it would sell. We also said that she was getting ready to go out into stores and was letting people check it out before she did. Almost every week we had some new addition to our sales pitch or when she was going into stores kept changing to a later date. Then, all of a sudden she wasn't going into stores anymore. I only worked there for possibly a month, it felt like a lifetime. I was there constantly. We would have to be there at 8 or 7:30am and account managers even earlier. Then, we would have to travel 2 hours or so using up our gas and mileage. We would walk around all day. Sometimes barely even taking a break.
The owner would get mad if he saw us stop for gas.
However, the owner barely did anything. He was making all the money and whoever his assistant was would make an alright amount. No one else made anything.
Don't do it.
