Jeep didn't have equipment that I was promised

I sent this to the BBB: I live in Panama City, Fla. I went outside our area to find a Jeep dealership, since we have none... (More) I live in Panama City, Fla. I went outside our area to find a Jeep dealership, since we have none here at this time. I worked with Trint Baldwin at TNT. Mr. Baldwin misrepresented the Jeep that they were selling me through an out-of-state dealership. Certain color, year, hard top, towing package and stereo system were the main items I wanted on the vehicle. I was told that this vehicle had everything on it that I was looking for, except the towing package. This is an excerpt from the email describing the Jeep to me. *

Hello Kym,

No tow on this one but the stereo is touch screen cd/dvd/mp3 7 speaker infinty surround sound with sub woofer and built in amp.

Sincerely,

Trint Baldwin*

Based on this information, I told Mr. Baldwin that this was the Jeep I wanted, and to get it for me. When I arrived in Bedford, VA on 11/02/09, where I had flown to take delivery of the pre-purchased vehicle, I found that instead of the above mentioned stereo system that I was promised, and had been told was in there, I had a one disk cd player. I immediately called Mr. Baldwin, to let him know that I was very upset that the promised system was not in the vehicle, and he showed no concern nor did he appear that he cared that what he had told me was false. I drove the vehicle home to Panama City, believing that this was a very easy problem for them to correct. When I arrived home, I again spoke to Mr. Baldwin, who told me that they would be willing to swap out the system for the one promised, at MY expense. When I told he that I shouldn't have to pay for something that I was told was already in the vehicle, he then said that he could work out where I could get it at his cost, and he would half that cost with me. I again expressed that I shouldn't have to pay extra for something that I was told by him that was already an option on this Jeep. He said he would talk to the GM, and get back to me. Several days later, I get an email with Option 3, which was that I had 48 hours from the time of the email to bring the Jeep to them, pick up my trade-in, and unwind the deal. Mr. Baldwin and I, up to this point, had great communication by phone, so JUST getting the email with the 48 hour cut off was very surprising, with no follow-up phone call, to make sure that I had received his email. Unwinding the deal was not an option for me, since I had been looking for this vehicle for several months, and since Jeep had stopped production for 5 months on the 2009's, it was very hard to find. The reason that I wanted the 09 was that this was the last year that Jeep offered the lifetime warranty on the power train.

I am willing to mail or fax you a copy of the emails that I received from Mr. Baldwin that shows all of this information.

*BBB recieved an answer today, that if you need, will have to be forwarded in an email. The following is my response.

The response does not address what they plan to do to stand behind their word. I have phone records showing when I talked to Trint Baldwin, and it was right after I was dropped off at the dealership in VA by a taxi, and I have the receipt from them showing the time of my drop-off. Of COURSE I like the Jeep... But it wasn't the sound system that I was told was in it, I was VERY unhappy and felt that I had made that very clear. I was NOT given a choice when I called to let them know I wasn't happy... And that was the words I used... I'm NOT HAPPY with being lied to. Again, it should be a simple fix... Replace the system I have with the one I was told was in the Jeep. It's integrity. It's standing behind your word. It's called being HONEST, and not dealing dirty. I can show emails that show this is the system I was told was in this Jeep, AND I have the email from Trint Baldwin where I was offered the choice of unwinding the deal, and there was NEVER talk of not paying the agreed amount that I was to pay, due to the speedometer malfunctioning while he was in transit from Blountstown, which is about half way for both of us, where we met up for Mr. Baldwin to take possession of my trade-in, and for us to sign the papers. I had agreed to pay half of their cost for repair, and have every intention of doing what I said, standing behind MY word, as soon as this issue is resolved.

The following is a cut and pasted copy of the email with the offer to un-wind the deal.

*Hello Kym

I have talked to the Mike about the situation with the stereo. His conclusion was that since you did pick up the vehicle and were aware of the stereo situation. Took the vehicle without consulting with us before you left the dealership.By doing so gave us no opportunity of resolving the issue prior to you taking delivery. Mike has decided to give you the option of unwinding the deal returning the vehicle and getting your tahoe back within a period of 48 hrs from time and date of this email. We want you completely satisfied with your purchase and would rather undo the deal completely than to have you unsatisfied.

Sincerely,

Trint BaldwinTNT Chrysler1724 W Jefferson StQuincy, FL 32351 (850) 627tbaldwin@tntchrysler. Motosnap.com

As you can see from the difference between the email that was sent to me, and the response that was given concerning the complaint, their story is not consistent. To sum it up, they have lied to me, and I will not hesitate to show my correspondence and/or documentation, to whomever I feel is in need of seeing it, to prove that they are dealing with me in a dishonest, unethical, and unprofessional manner.

Once again, here is the email from Trint Baldwin, stating what system was in the Jeep.

Again, this is what I was told was in the deal, and what I had agreed to buy.

Thank you for your time, and attention with this matter.
