Bill Arterberry - Superstition Springs Chrysler Jeep
Lease Return Refusal

To Whom It May Concern:

My husband and I leased a 2005 Jeep Wrangler with Superstition Springs Chrysler Jeep 6130 E. Auto Park Drive, Mesa, AZ 85206. The lease ends June 26. On June 22 I purchased a new Jeep at Power Chrysler Jeep Dodge in Phoenix, AZ. Before purchasing the new vehicle I contacted Bill Arterberry through the Superstition Springs dealership on June 22. Sunday is Bills day off and I contacted him directly on his cell phone as advised by the receptionist at the dealership. During this phone conversation he seemed intoxicated and was slurring his speech. I have since learned from Wendy Ramirez that Bill Arterberry is, a respected elder, a member of the LDS church and does not drink and takes medication for his health problems. Perhaps his medication affected his speech. Regardless he should not be accepting customer phone calls on his day off if he is incapacitated.

During the Sunday June 22 phone call we gave Bill the opportunity to sell us a Jeep at his dealership if he could match the printed price quote we received from Power Chrysler Jeep Dodge. He stated that the price quote for the Jeep Liberty we were looking at was too low and there is no way the price is accurate. We then asked Bill why we shouldnt buy the Jeep from his competitor if the price is so low and his response was to badmouth the Power Chrysler Jeep Dodge dealership stating there would be hidden fees.

Bill Arterberry advised me that if I purchase a vehicle through a different Chrysler Jeep dealership he will refuse my lease return, but the Power Chrysler Jeep Dodge dealership advised me I can return my leased jeep to any Chrysler Jeep dealership.

Monday June 23 I contacted the Chrysler corporate office to set up a lease return appointment and was once again advised I can return my Jeep to any Chrysler Jeep dealership. I contacted Bill and he angrily told me that I have to return the Jeep to the dealership where I purchased my new vehicle. So I contacted the Chrysler corporate office again and the customer service agent connected me with Wendy Ramirez at Superstition Springs Chrysler Jeep and she told me to bring in my leased vehicle any time on June 23 and she would process the return. I immediately brought in the vehicle. Once I arrived at the dealership Wendy contacted Bill and I could hear him speaking loudly to her on the phone and she left her office. Once Wendy returned she said they would be unable to process the lease return and I have to return the vehicle to the dealership where I purchased my new vehicle. When I asked Wendy why her dealership is not following Chrysler corporate policy her response was that their dealership is full and Chrysler is not picking up leased returns as agreed. I then left Wendys office and thanked her for wasting my time to which she replied, youre welcome.

So now I am forced to return my leased Jeep Wrangler to the dealership where I purchased my new vehicle which is 60 miles round trip from my home. Contractually Superstition Springs Chrysler Jeep should accept my lease return.
