I had a pipe to my water meter break outside the house. George wrote a letter to JEA for me, but I had to foot a $700 bill of which I got a $200 credit from JEA for. At one point, I was getting shocked by the kitchen faucet. He grudgingly fixed it but suggested I was just calling him over because I wanted attention. He repeatedly broke into my apartment and left signs such as closet doors being left open. I have no idea why he was going through my closet, but I never got an explanation. When I moved in, the counters were sticky and the floor was unswept. When I moved out, the floors were swept and the counters cleaned. Regardless, he listed "apartment left unclean" as one of his reasons for withholding a refund of my deposit. I gave him a month's notice I was leaving and he threw a fit when I told him he couldn't show my apartment while I was at work. I originally signed a 1 year lease, but he couldn't make copies of the agreement as it was signed at the Wendy's in 5 points. When I finally got a copy over a month later, it had been changed from 1 year to month to month and claimed I had no pets even though I had paid him a $50 pet deposit. Apartment and yard has fleas, but George and Vicky claim they didn't see any even as I was talking to them on the front lawn and fleas were crawling up my arms. I eventually got fed up and bought the stuff to treat the yard myself. However, since they feed the local alley cats every morning in their tenet's yard, don't expect the fleas to go away permanently anytime soon. Additionally, the tenet below me had her AC break down in the middle of Summer and George refused to pay the labor (the part that was under warranty) to repair it. He then evicted her for complaining too much.
In short, this dude is a major douchebag and NOT worth the cheap rent. When I moved out, he promised me he'd give me my $550 deposit back. I wasn't holding my breath, but hoping I'd at least get something.instead, I got a scrawled note that read "$550 deposit Lease Broken Apartment left unclean."
After his treatment of my neighbor, I expected as much and am simply happy to be out of that nasty roach and flea pit.
