I am incarerated at Gunnison, State Prison. I have a hearing dissability, which requires the use of a hearing-aide. I tried to purchase one from the prison. The prison informed me that the cost of the hearing-aide was $1,000.00. I was told that I had to pay $500.00 in advance. Then I would receive the hearing-aide and I would pay the $500.00 balance upon delievery of the hearing-aide. I have never received the hearing-aide. They are now trying to say that I owe them the additional $500.00 for the remaining balance of the hearing-aide, that I never received, plus they never refunded my money. When you are in prison $5.00 is alot of money, let alone $500.00. Also you can not refuse to pay the money, They will just take the money off of your books. If a family member sends you some money, the prison will automatically take 60% of it and you can't do anything about it. They will get their money one way or another and you can stop them. I just don't feel it is not right I should have to pay for something I have never received, yet that I need so desperately. If there is anything that you can do to help, I would greatly appreciate it. How can The goverment get away with this?
