It is amazing how a company such as AT&T, that is so well-known, turns out to be a total RIP OFF. I understand they are a business. However, they DO NOT care about customer service. "Providing excellent customer service is our highest priority at At&t" is a LIE. I read the consumer feedback of ex-Vonage customers and really had sympathy. I laughed at a few, such as 'a company from HELL' and "I will use a string and can before I go back'. As I was disconnecting my service with At&t, I related to them BOTH.
My service lasted April 22-June 17 . During that time, the MAYHEM involved: an automated phone call (days after set up) informing me of a slightly increased bill that's on the way; countless calls from my cell phone informing At&t that my home phone DOES NOT HAVE A DIAL TONE; a couple of techs who needs orientation AGAIN; about $30 added to my bill PLUS next month's bill (who says I'll be alive to EVEN use it); maintenance repair of $85, which included a tech opening the outside box (not entering my home) and leaving a "door prize" stating the problem was inside; several police officers at my front door because the phone with NO DIAL TONE was making 911 CALLS; and a $79.50 charge of 411 CALLS made from that SAME phone.
THEN, two days after Mr. $85 tech came by, another tech came and ACTUALLY located then pulled out the wire (in the BOX outside) that was causing the problem. TA DA, the phone works! Ok, now the $85 is justified. I do wish I could have been a 'satisfied customer'. Right now, I am a 'satisfied Ex -At&t customer'. Behind the news that "Jesus IS Alive" should be " At&t IS A Rip Off".
