A Safeway Van Lines representative came to my home, and quoted an estimate of how much it would cost to move my furniture. I ended up paying double the amount quoted. The representative who came to my home, saw my furniture, and said, "Oh this would be an easy move, you don't have much for us to move." I understand most of my expenses incurred due to packing materials used for my bedroom suite, which have a mirrored headboard. The Safeway Van Lines representative saw my bedroom, but yet I was lead to believe the additional cost would be very minimal. Also in the confirmation letter Safeway Van lines sent me it stated packing materials would be supplied, by my request, (for the record I did not make any requests for packing materials), also I was charged an additional $127.50 for travel time. I asked the General Manager, Bill Shade several times about this travel time charge, before my move date, and was informed it would be included in the 4.5 hr minimal charge.
I was very shocked, and disappointed when I found out my bill was $941.00, and not the $475.00, plus packing material originally quoted. I am so disappointed because this is not the first time I have been taken advantage of by a moving company. Movers BEWARE, moving companies are like used car salesmen.
