About 2 years ago we got 2 bedroom sets from Aaron's. The application process was quick, but the approval process was ridiculous. I thought they were going to want DNA samples, fingerprints, rights to my firstborn, and references all the way back to the doctors who delivered me! Then we were finally approved. They said our furniture would be delivered around 5:00 pm, but they did not show up until 9:00 the next night, and every time my wife and I called (15 to 20 times), they were just around the corner.
When they got there, our dresser mirror was broken, and they did not have one of my son's pieces. It took over an hour to set up, and I finally told them to leave so I could do it myself. It took about another week to get the missing piece and a new mirror, with the same delivery results as the first time: always just around the corner, there in 10 minutes, and they did not arrive until almost 9:00 at night again.
Their payment schedule is set up for the 1st and 15th, but I do not get paid until the 5th and 20th. They give you a "grace" period of 3 days, which does me no good, so the phone calls start on the 3rd and 18th, usually 3 messages at home and 2 calls while I am at work. I get hit with a $10 late fee every month for each item.
After I paid off my son's set, I became a "gold member" and needed a new fridge. They brought me one, and the delivery was not too bad this time, maybe an hour late, but the motor kept blowing and it would not get cold. I called Aaron's, and they said they could not bring another one for almost 4 days. All my food went bad and I had to throw it all away, but they were not willing to compensate me, even though it was their piece of garbage that caused it.
Do not ever pay with your bank card. They took it upon themselves to retrieve my account number and take a payment out without my permission. But today is the day: I am going down at 2:00 to make my last and final payment! Needless to say, I have already gotten 3 phone calls from them this morning. The bond is broken!
Never again will I go through these guys, although I am sure they will try to sell me something else today when I go down there. Maybe I will be a "platinum member"? Sorry, guys, I am sick of paying 3 to 4 times what something is actually worth. "Low payments, hassle free, everyone approved" sounds good at the time. It is just not worth it. Save up and buy it outright, you are better off, trust me, I know.
