Purchased a list of almost 4500 names from the company. They talked a good game about the high quality of the list. Randomized the list and sent to about 20% of the list. Received a 10% return rate, well above the 6% return rate they guarantee. The sales person said he wouldn't do ANYTHING until we sent out the remaining 80% of the list because "it is possible that all of the remaining addresses are good." Clearly he has no concept of statistics...
When I discussed the expense of the mailings, he suggested that we call all of the addresses first to ensure we have the correct addresses. Funny, I thought that is what they said they do.
He indicated that they verify the addresses every quarter and then update them every month. I find this hard to believe as well as some of the organizations have been out of business since last year.
I expect to have bad addresses from ANY mailing list purchased. However I guess I'm more ticked off by the tone and attitude of NMP when we called. Ironically, they have a page on their website discussing how to deal with compliants and how to turn those complaints into customers. Perhaps they should read and practice what they write...
