Directv (Direct Tv) Made several false statements to sign us up as subscribers. We were promised over the phone and guaranteed that we had 30 days to cancel services with a full credit posted to our account. "No questions asked". That is a complete distortion of the truth at best. We had sub par looking (and smelling) installation workers who smelled like they had just had a few rounds at the local Bar. They tracked dirt and mud into our home and couldnt care less. They said "call our boss" he will send out a Proffesional carpet cleaner to take care of any problems." NEVER HAPPENED!
The rookie installer cut my Comcast internet cable, and drilled 2 completely unnecessary holes in the side of my house, only to realize they were WAY to low to mount the dish with a clear line of sight. They plugged the holes with clear scillicone and said "you cant even see it". BULL!!! You can see it clearly. I explained to them I wanted to hook up my old HD reciever so I can get FREE Portland Broadcasted High Defenition Channels. They told me "no, we cant do that, its not on the work order and we wont get paid for the install." I said no problem I will hook it up after they left." It took HOURS on the phone to get Directv to hook up my old (PAID FOR) BOX! They also tried to charge me 20 dollars for a new card.
After significant opposition on my part, the old card worked just fine... Go figure. Then the Dual Tuner DVR in the bedroom stopped working, they wanted to charge me 90 dollars to send these chumps out to damage my house even more. After 15 days of constant daily calls to get this fixed we cancelled the service over the phone. We also mailed a regular US mail letter, and a certified return receipt requested letter with delivery confirmation! We also Emailed customer service.
After a bunch of internet research if you want out of the fake fees they try to charge First BEFORE YOU CALL AND CANCEL... Do what we did... Completely close your bank account!!! I know its an extreme step to protect your almost 500 dollars of early termination theft fees. We did it (because I am smart) and THEN we called to cancel. They attempted to charge our canceld Visa card to no avail! They called THAT day and we were verbally RAPED over the phone by some guy calling himself a manager, and "The Top Guy". The top guy spoke horrible broken, and Getto English. I laughed at him and told him to move forward with any type of collection activity he wanted to. I also explained that I work out of my home, and that I have NOTHING better to do than to complain to every possible Governing body about Directv, and the theft that is going on. I also told him I would go to every posting website I could find and share my story. Millions of People look at Craigsist everyday, I am currently working on posting a warning in EVERY major US city to warn people that Directv only gives you 24 hours to cancel after install. Yet they tell no one this, and they want no one to know. You may spend just a few more bucks a month on Digital Cable, but go that rout. Comcast has no 2 year agreements as all their lines are already ran to your home. Worse case scenario, stream your important Tv shows over your computer and run a cable to your Television. I have done this on many shows I have missed over the past few years.
DIRECTV ARE LIARS, THEY INSTRUCT THEIR EMPLOYEES TO OUTRIGHT LIE AND STEAL YOUR MONEY, STAY AWAY FROM THESE PEOPLE. The problems I had go on and on and on. I simply do not have the time to post them all here. Complete scam stay away from this company.
