I bought my van from the store in Council Bluffs after being rushed into the sale, and of cours being told that the van had been inspected and was in great condition.
Shortly after buying it the front bumper almost fell off. When we looked at it all the bolts that are used to hod it on were missing and had been broke off. Then I was at work driving Mentally Handicapped consumers to thier appointments when it caught FIRE.
It turns out that the fan for the cooling system had shorted out and burned up. When fixing this problem (that of course was not covered on warranty) it was discovered that the van had been crashed and everythin that was plastic under the hood was glued together or strapped in.
We fixed all that was wrong which made the van in better condition than it was when I bought it. Then one day I was driving it on the interstate, on my way to take my 6 children to school when all of a sudden the van jerked and I lost all power to accelerate. I pulled over (through 3 lanes of traffic going 60 miles per hour) and got power back. I tried to get going and discovered that the van would not shift out of low gear.
I of course called UAC and found out that my warranty was about to expire on the next day, so I took it to thier approved shop. The shop said that they couldn't figure out what was wrong so I had to take it to a dealership to be diagnosed at my own expense then bring it back if it was the transmission to be fixed and it had to be done before the end of the next business day to be covered on the warranty.
I took it to the dealer and paid over $100 to find it out that the engine computer and the transmission computer had both gone out at the same time and that it will cost over $1000 just for parts. When I called UAC back they told me that I was not going to be helped at all, due to the fact that my warranty was expired and it was electrical so it wasn't covered anyway.
I of course brought it to thier attention that it was going to cost almost as much as I owe on the van to fix it, and that I would like to know what they plan to do. The lady then hung up on me.
Someone really needs to stop these people from ripping off all these people who think they are being helped by buying a car from them (to better thier credit that never gets any help.)
If anyone files a lawsuit I would be more that happy to stand in court to help stop this from happening to anyone else.
