I am speaking for myself and my bad experience with Pinnacle Career Institute and their Business Administration program. (I keep a journal with names, dates, and conversations) When I talked to one of the representatives I was very clear on the training I was looking for. I wanted to enroll in a program that would train me for an administrative assistant position. He assured me I would get that training at PCI.
He was wrong! The classes are set up to run four days a week 8:30-1:15,20 minutes for lunch., four weeks. They provide books for each class, but I never had a class that the entire book was covered. They should be ashamed of their classes and staff. One of the classes was basic math and accounting. After two days of class I asked about the basic math, I was handed two photo copied pieces of paper with a few math problems on them and was told if I needed help to let the instructor know.
The person who gave me the math problems was not the instructor. (I have those pieces of paper) I was shocked at this situation, little did I know there was more to come. I knew the instructor was not qualified when I asked about an accounting procedure I didn't understand and he handed me the instrutor manual and was told I would find the answer in the manual.
I knew I would be wasting my time asking questions about the basic math. This instructor is no longer with PCI, and I feel I am owed monies for not being taught this class. Let me move on to the "computer classes". Word 2007 - again handed books we never came close to finishing. I was told when I signed up with PIC that my tuition included taking the word certification test twice. I was not prepared to take the certification test, but I did.
To begin the test you have to sign in with your email address, so you can recieve verification of taking it, and a voucher if you need to retake the test. While taking the test the computer went down and then timed out. I reported this to a staff member. (My journal shows who and when I spoke to them) After a few days went by I told this staff member that I had not received verification of taking the test and I knew the second test had to be taken within a certain period of time.
I was directed to another staff member, who told me she would contact microsoft and reassured me she would take care of it and I could retest. I asked this staff member several times what the status was on retaking the test. She kept telling me she would look into it. Needless to say time has run out and if I want to take the certification test I will have to pay for it. Again I think I am due monies.
Excel was the same story. Handed a book which we never completely covered and told to start with chapter one. Excel spreadsheets are a must have in todays work force. Because I was not adequately taught, I have to find another place to retake Excel. Again I think I am due monies. I was not happy with the instructor to begin with, but when she told students who worked ahead she would not help them because they were ahead of the class, that really made me question her teaching, muti tasking abilities and personality skills.
The co-owner of PCI said "There are always going to be some students who are unhappy." he said, noting that all but a handful of the school's students are satified with both the curriculum and intruction." I am NOT "some student". I was mislead into the Admisitrative Assistant program being reassured this was the program I needed after being very clear on the training I was looking for.
I did not recieve the education I was told PCI stood for and stood behind. I am now in the process of enrolling in an adiminstrative assistant program with another highly recommended school. PCI you failed me! If you ever want names, dates and places let me know. Do you feel you should make things right?
