The problem stated in October. We received our bill and were charged for the Credit Inform. I immediately got on the phone and called, 1-866-226-3745. I spoke to a representative and explained that I did not want the credit inform on my account. They canceled it, problem solved.
On November 28th I get my bill. There is an 8.99 charge from Credit Inform. I immediately pick up the phone and call Capital One, they transfer me to Credit Inform. After a 20 speel on their part, the rep says they will cancel my account and credit the 8.99. At this point my balance should be at -0-, nada, zip. I get my bill in December, it shows a balance of 9.07. So I call, the balance is a combo of the 8.99 from previous bill and another charge of. 08 for the 8.99 balance. I get on the phone! Rest assured by Capital One that this will be taken care of.
So today, 1/22/09 I get another bill. The balance is at 24.81. What did I do? I picked up the phone, again! I was charged not only the 9.07, but a 15.00 late fee AND. 24 from credit inform that i cancelled in October. I called Capital One, they transferred me to credit inform and disconnected me because I was complaining. So I called credit inform and they transferred me to capital one. This went on for 2 hours straight. Neither party wanted to accept the responsibility for these charges. I finally got the late fee and other charges reduced, after telling them that I was going to contact my Ohio Attorney General and the Better Business Bureau, which I fully intend to do. We'll see what happens on next months statement!
In the meantime, if you are thinking about getting a capital one credit card, account, auto loan or whatever, think twice. Most of their representatives are in foreign countries, talk a mile a minute and you can not understand them.
