On August 22, I was contacted by Deloris Scott, whom I have never met or spoke to in my life. Ms. Scott contacted me, requesting that I sign a lease for 5-Star Construction, which is owned by my son, David Christiansen.
I told Ms. Scott I could not sign anything guaranteeing payment for David. She sent me numerous faxes trying to convince me to sign. Accusing me of not helping my son get on his feet. David was having severe medical problems brought on by himself and we were not doing anything to help him financially.
On August 26, Ms Scott showed up on my doorstep asking me once again to help David by signing the lease. My husband and I were in the process of moving when Ms. Scott arrived.
My husband became very angry with Ms. Scott but she ignored him and continued to plead with me to sign the lease. I finally buckled under the pressure and signed the lease. She then told me she would have to call the office for verification. During the confirmation call, which by the way, they say are recorded, I told the person on the line I was going to have to wait and give it more thought. Ms. Scott continued to plead with me to agree while on the phone. All of this should be in the recording. I finally unwillingly agreed.
Approximately two (2) hours after Ms. Scott left my home I called Lease Finance and explained what took place and requested they cancel the lease.
On August 27, I spoke with someone by the name of Celina who told me to fax a request for cancellation immediately and they could cancel the lease since nothing had been mailed nor received. I promptly faxed the letter and thought all was taken care of.
I have NEVER received a credit card machine, nor to my knowledge has it ever been used.in September I received an invoice requesting a payment so I called and explained what took place, and they told me I could not cancel the lease once I signed the document. I explained that I never received the machine and asked that they go back and listen to the recording.
When Ms. Scott contacted me requesting I make the payment due, I told her I never received the machine and have no intentions of paying for it.
In December she called again requesting that I make a payment. I once again told her that I had not nor did I intend to make any payments to this company. It was at this time that she informed me she had made two (2) payments herself but could not continue to do so and that it would go against my credit if I did not pay for the lease.
I have tried to talk with someone concerning this matter but they are not interested in helping me. My husband and I are in the process of building a new home, which we moved into this week. When we began the construction process in August we both had excellent credit. Apparently my credit scores have fallen due to reports by this company and they are saying that I do not qualify to buy the home. We are holding off closing in hopes of clearing this up but it will be necessary to proceed very soon.
I am pleading for help concerning this matter and do not understand how someone can take another persons credit and not care what they do to them.
This matter is urgent considering the purchase of our home, my family and my marriage. I do appreciate your attention to this matter and look forward to hearing from you.
