Court is asked to take abused 6-month-old off life support

DALLAS, Texas — A court could decide this week whether to end life support for a 6-month-old Dallas baby who has suffered severe brain damage, dozens of bone fractures and numerous scars, allegedly at the hands of his parents.
Besides severe brain and spinal cord injuries, a physician noted, David Coronado Jr. Had 42 skeletal injuries. His hands and feet appeared to have been pulled, twisted and crushed. His skin injuries include bruises and human bite marks, The Dallas Morning News reported in Saturday editions.
The only child of David Cesar Coronado Sr., 23, and Ruthy Marie Chabolla, 22, wasn't breathing when they took him to Methodist Dallas Medical Center one evening last month.
Hospital staff revived the infant with CPR and rushed him to Children's Medical Center of Dallas, where doctors were appalled by his injuries, including a bite wound to the bone of one of his fingers.
Police on Dec. 23.2008 arrested Coronado and Chabolla on charges of injury to a child. Each was being held in the Dallas County jail in lieu of $500,000 bail.
