In the past 20 years I have told numerous political and legal representatives of a wrongful dismissal for employment. I use to work at a dual rig. On May 30,1986, I was working and a guy named James Martin came up to me and spat on me for no reason from the deck aboveI. I was raised in a village being taught to respect everyone at an early age. It was hard for me to understand this incident and to see that it was alright to do in his eye. I was painting handrails on the lower level of the rig with the other employees. Immediately I went to the supervisor who was the Drilling Instructor. He told me to take a shower. I did. Keep in mind that this is an offshore drilling rig and I could not leave. On June 7,1986, I was given a pink slip which stated, “Poor Attitude”. I then contacted the EEOC and nothing was done. Keep in mind that in 5 years, I missed 5 days of work. I am not sure but that seems like a pretty good work attitude in addition to me helping to save a life of an employee whose named Benny Ray Stokes. He was near the hydrogen sulfer device (h2s) and it began to leak. The warning signal went off and he was losing oxygen. I was able to assist him with some and removed him from the area. Gases were escaping. On another note, Harry Dykes (another employee), tried to take my life an make it look like an accident. Knowingly that in training for this position that one of the first things to learn is not to have two valves closed at the same time. Well, he did and this sent pressure down the pipeline directly to me. You should always have one valve open and the other closed. He of course had too much experience in this field. I guess what I am trying to say is I want JUSTICE/whatever is right.
