I was hired by this company ten days ago. I worked at a bank and I had a secured job with benefits and vacation time. I wanted a change and this company offered me a better pay. I left my job two weeks ago for this company. The company knew of my qualifications before I was hired and I was told that i would be trained for the position.
On day seven of the job, I was told not to ask any more questionsbecause the person training me had too much to do and I needed to figure it out on my own.
On day eight of the job with a lack of training because this was a busy time for the company. The Manager of the company informed me that things were not working out. She stated that I was not proficient enough, even though I had not been fully trained. I was also told that because it was a busy time they did not have sufficient time to train me.
Before I started this job, I informed them that I had Banking experience and did not have office experience, therefore I needed training for their system.
I was fired immediately and given two weeks pay, with no other funds to last me for the rest of the year.
It is almost christmas and I was fired without the opportunity to prove myself in this job and without adequate training. Their inability to train me is not a good excuse for terminating someone after 8 days of work.
I worked in my past job for over 3 years and not had a problem with proficiency.
This is wrongful temination because I relied on this job to pay my bills and survive in this challenging economy. I am unable to get unemployment because I was only there for 8 days.
Something needs to be done about a company that can unjustifiably terminate someone without just cause and inadequate training.
