I too have been a long term customer of Wachovia 's and have had nothing but heartache. I finally decided to open an account with Suntrust and hope that I will be happy there in the coming months.

One of my most recent unpleasant situations have included having a check bounce, but my online banking statement showed that the check was presented after my direct deposit. Upon contacting them, I was told that the check was presented in the branch the day prior but wasn't recorded online as being returned until 2 days later. This was impossible because the check wasn't provided to the recipient until the same day of my direct deposit.

There have been numerous other issues, with another recent being a disputed unauthorized charge. They verbally refused to take my dispute complaint over the phone, and finally transfered me to the appropriate dept after several wasted hours on the phone and at least 5 calls later. The dispute dept issued a provisional credit for the amount until they investigate. They then proceeded to tell me that they were unable to resolve the issue with the merchant and wished me better luck, but as a result of being unable to resolve, they would have to take the money back out of my account. After all of this, they could still tell me that they value my business?! That's not a value and was equally a slap in the face. It basically said to me that anyone could take money out of my bank account and I just have to deal with it if I'm so unlucky.
